Puneet Agarwal Elected to Serve as Ocean Trustee |
The ACOPNE is pleased to announce the election of Puneet Agarwal, Ph.D., P.E., D.OE as the Ocean Representative Trustee on the ACOPNE Board of Trustees. Dr. Agarwal's term of service is thru October 2025.
Dr. Agarwal is currently a Research Engineer in ExxonMobil Technology and Engineering Company, based in Houston, Texas. His present focus is on emission reduction technologies from deepwater oil & gas assets with an emphasis on power decarbonization. Before that, Dr. Agarwal worked on design, field monitoring, and integrity assessment of risers and pipelines. His core areas of engineering expertise include fixed-bottom and floating offshore wind turbines, strength and fatigue assessment of offshore systems, random vibrations, and digital signal processing, and metocean work.
Dr. Agarwal has published 50 papers in conferences and journals and has one US patent. He has contributed to industry standards for wind turbines and risers. He was an associate editor for ASME Journal of Offshore Mechanics and Arctic Engineering, sits on the program committee of the Offshore Technology Conference, and reviews technical papers. He is a registered Professional Engineer in structural engineering. Before joining ExxonMobil, he was with Stress Engineering Services from 2008 to 2019.
Puneet earned his Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin (2008), M.S. in Civil Engineering from University of Connecticut (2004), and B.Tech. in Civil Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (2000).
Puneet stated: "The ACOPNE serves a very important purpose of ensuring the high standards of ocean engineering practice and continuously improving the COPNE profession. These are the causes I am very passionate about, and therefore, I am delighted to serve the Academy as a Trustee. I have actively served the engineering profession as an Associate Editor of the ASME Journal of Offshore Mechanics and Arctic Engineering, as reviewer for many conference and journal papers, as a Technical Program Committee member of the Offshore Technology Conference, and on the Board of Greater Houston chapter of IIT Alumni Association. I believe these experiences have prepared me well and I look forward to the distinguished opportunity of serving the Academy."
