The ACOPNE is pleased to announce the election of Lori Brownell, P.E., D.NE, M.ASCE as the ACOPNE President-Elect for 2022. Ms. Brownell is currently serving on the ACOPNE Board as the Navigation Representative Trustee since 2020 and will begin her tenure as President-Elect this October.

Ms. Brownell is currently the director of channel improvement at Port Houston. In her role, Ms. Brownell leads her team to focus on the next generation of widening and deepening improvements to the Port Houston’s 52-mile channel and acts a key interface with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and strategic advisor to Port Houston’s executive management. Prior to joining Port Houston in September 2019, Ms. Brownell served as the director of Taylor Engineering’s waterfront engineering group and provided 20-years of planning, design, and construction administration service for waterfront, marine, and dredging-focused projects in the southeastern U.S.

Lori has been an active member of ASCE since 1999 serving on the COPRI Governing Board between 2014 and 2018 (Treasurer) and 2019-2021 (Vice President, President, Past President). Ms. Brownell also currently serves on the WEDA Board of Directors (2020-2023) and ACOPNE Board of Trustees (2020-2023).

Lori stated: "I am beyond honored to serve on the distinguished ACOPNE Board of Trustees and furthermore to elevate my role for the 2021-2022 year as President-Elect. My mission to serve as President-elect stems to (1) support our President, Jack Cox; (2) elevate and secure ACOPNE’s position within ASCE; (3) further ACOPNE’s ability to connect to our current Coastal, Ocean, Port, and Navigation Diplomates; and (4) support those future Diplomates that are seeking the next level of accreditation through board certification."
