The ACOPNE is pleased to announce the election of Dr. Ahmed S. Mohamed Ahmed, Ph.D., C.Eng., D.CE as the International Trustee on the ACOPNE Board of Trustees for 2022-2025. Dr. Ahmed began is 3-year term on the ACOPNE Board on October 21, 2022.

Dr. Ahmed is currently a senior coastal engineer at Dar in Giza, Egypt. Dr. Ahmed has nearly three decades of vast experience in research, consultancy services, construction supervision management and leadership in the field of Coastal and Hydraulic Engineering. Prof. Ahmed’s experience was acquired and significantly improved through his involvement in research works at: 1) Hydraulics Research Institute (HRI), National Water Research Center, Egypt, 2) UNESCO-IHE, Delft the Netherlands, 3) The University of Tokyo, Japan and 4) Port and Airport Research Institute (PARI), Japan and his involvement in consultancy services and leadership at Dar Al-Handasah (Shair and Partners), Cairo Office, Egypt.

Dr. Ahmed is a reviewer of renowned international journals and received registration as a Chartered Engineer from the U.K. Council since September 2019 under registration no. 667404. Dr. Ahmed has extensive experience in the following research and technical areas: Coastal Engineering (Coastal Processes, Morphology and Structures); River Dynamics and Hydraulic Structures; Port Engineering (Ports and Marinas). His experience covers field measurements, laboratory measurements, physical and numerical modeling, consultancy services and construction supervision management.

Dr. Ahmed’s statement of service: “I hope to contribute to the ACOPNE in following ways: 1) Transfer knowledge to my colleagues regarding ACOPNE’s activities and advise them about the credibility of obtaining this board certification 2) Help the ACOPNE Admissions committee review candidates within middle east and African countries that are eligible for the Diplomate board certification. 3) I will encourage my colleagues to get board certified in other disciplines also (e.g. Water Resources and Geotechnical Engineering) 4) Providing ideas to increase awareness and visibility of the ACOPNE program to other professionals in my region.”
