ACOPNE Selects Laurence Emsley as President-Elect
ACOPNE and Collins Engineers, Inc. congratulate Laurence Emsley on being selected to serve as President-Elect for the Academy of Coastal, Ocean, Port & Navigation Engineers (ACOPNE). The time frame of the appointment runs from October 2016 through September 2017. Emsley will then serve as ACOPNE President from October 2017 through September 2018.
Laurence Emsley, PMP, D.PE, P.E., P. Eng., is Collins’ Project Lead for Marine and Energy services and is based in Houston. He has been with Collins for over 4½ years. With almost 50 years of experience, Mr. Emsley has significant experience working on large-scale port facilities; and offshore oil and gas, transportation, nuclear, and chemical facilities. He was also a member of PIANC’s Working Group 135 which produced the report “Design Principles for Small and Medium Marine Container Terminals.”
The Academy of Coastal, Ocean, Port and Navigation Engineers (ACOPNE) is an elite group composed of nearly 200 Diplomates who have at least fifteen years of experience, a master’s degree, and the approval of the trustees to become eligible for Board Certification. The Academy is a way to recognize engineers who have a special knowledge and experience in the fields of civil engineering that compose ACOPNE: coastal engineering, ocean engineering, port engineering, and navigation engineering. ACOPNE is associated with the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and ASCE’s Coasts, Oceans, Ports and Rivers Institute (COPRI).
